Josh Scott Signature JHS Relevator by BilT

I don't really care for signature gear but I'm kinda intrigued by the instrument itself. I wonder if Bilt is going to plan to start offering more import models or if it's a one off thing for this weird collab. A standard Revelator starts at $2500 and with some of the options/upcharges they've included on this model it'd be well over $3000.

Of course standard models also use mastery bridge/vibrato, Lollar/Novak/Fralin etc instead of no-name pickups, Kluson instead of "Kluson style" tuners, and so on and so forth

Anything JHS related has me like . . .

I like the man, his humor, and his attitude about TGP foolishness, but he doesn't play much I like to hear or make much I want to buy. That said, I love the Morning Glory circuit. He didn't change much from the original, but what he did change was just right.

I've never liked that guitar though.

I haven’t experienced enough Josh Scott to have a super strong opinion on the guy.

The couple of his videos I’ve seen do have a vaguely ‘sad-sack, demoralized high school teacher’ vibe that I don’t find especially compelling. But that’s also not enough to make me want to start a lifelong blood feud… 🤷‍♀️

Evaluated in isolation, I think the guitar looks cool. White + primary color = ‘70s sci-fi vibes, to me. Of course, that aesthetic doesn’t really match dude, or his brand, as far as I can tell. So, once again, I say unto you…🤷‍♀️

I'm not going to make a new thread but Eastwood just released a semihollow bass vi that is 1000% more GAS inducing.

And yet...

Why must neck-diving designs be perpetuated? Have bass-designers learned nothing in 3/4 of a century?

I think I'd rather pick up a kit for that style of bass and build it,
or go here and get a neck-diver of another stripe:

Seems Josh's business model is to joke about products and see what lands. Anything that garners any interest and...

It's for sale and he's capitalising upon it. Good for him, I guess. 🤷‍♂️
If it gives Bilt a bit more business, even better.

Personally, I'd rather spin my own partscaster together with all the features/colours/hardware/ideas etc that I want — there aren't too many signature-instruments that make me want to strike like a Northern Pike. Alan Caron's signature FBass models appeal, but even then, I can have them tailored more to my taste — well, if I had that kind of money. My parts-casters will have to be built from cheapest of the cheap.
