What’s the verdict?Just replaced the OP07 in my Rat with a metal can LM308 that @Barry generously sent to me.

I happened upon a handful of LM308 recently too. Not metal can but late production DIP-package by STMicroelectronics. Recorded some DIs and used a reamp box for a proper comparison between the LM308N and the OP07 in the exact same pedal. I'm usually not one for mojo parts but these really do sound different. Not that the OP07 sounds bad or doesn't do the rat thing, the LM308 just has a different tone and I do prefer it.Just replaced the OP07 in my Rat with a metal can LM308 that @Barry generously sent to me.

It’s subtle, but I like the 308 better. It sounds less harsh and feels more spongy, for lack of a better term, especially with higher output pickups. I didn’t do a precise before/after, though, so it’s possible that I’m hearing things. Either way, though, this Rat’s going to be a daily driver for me.What’s the verdict?
That's what I found too. Highs are slightly rolled off and give a sweeter, smoother sound overall. Note decay seems to have a softer knee too. It’s subtle, but I like the 308 better. but is a good clues to what the pedalpcb version could be called...I have successfully completed the entire DOOM2, version 1 and 2, game using only the chainsaw. Every demon has their weakness....
It’s a blues breaker with mods …. All the bass players ask you not to distract Robert from that Doom2 which (apparently) is fairly unique …@Robert - was kinda curious about this guy (EHX Spruce Goose), is it still in on the workbench?
it's not got a wanted thread!
I think it’s a cartoon reference or something"welcome to you're doom"
It otherwise looks really nice!
Just get a Future Impact...I think it’s a cartoon reference or something
What’s interesting is in bass world it keeps being described as unique synthy distortion with only the prunes and custard or SA wave folding distortion getting close.
He stopped building for a while and the prices went utterly mental and even what he makes now is price gouged by flippers.
How unique is it? Who knows? (Till Robert opens it up at least)
I had a SA C4 synth - it made my head hurt.Just get a Future Impact...
Future impact has enough features for a million migraines but it's soooo much fun. It's basically a full featured virtual synth once you hook up usb and load the editor. The latest (V4?) is going to an app based system allowing the dev to have fully different programs available for it. I don't get why they aren't huge. 100s of synth sounds and a full featured editor, for ~$230.I had a SA C4 synth - it made my head hurt.
Borrowing a SA Artifakt and will see if that can scratch the same itch in a more user friendly way...
The C4 synth is similar but different - my issue is I’m on a journey from zoom multifx to hx stomp and then very much enjoying individual effects, mostly analogue - I stare at screens all day for work - there’s a bit of me that doesn’t want to do that when I’m not working.Future impact has enough features for a million migraines but it's soooo much fun. It’s absolutely still funny looking. That poor thing looks like it has conjunctivitis and a black eye.
