I've always used DHL without issue for Tayda orders, but now my options are:

Welp, guess it's UPS or FedEx this time! I'm in the Midwest, if it makes any difference. Which would you go with??

In my experience, the local UPS and FedEx both work great but DHL hasn’t been my best option. I think it comes down to how your local UPS or FedEx team works, if you’ve had good results, stick with those guys… On a side note, it makes me so happy to get 700 or 800 items shipped from Thailand to Arizona for $0.99, that’s just amazing...

Right now I have a small number of items in my cart (<$10 worth). And these are my options to ship to US west coast.

I wonder how do I get the 99 cent option?

I have more experience with local UPS, so I'll likely go that route. Good point. DHL always worked out, but tracking etc was frustrating at times.

The shipping prices fluctuate weirdly, and go both up AND down as you add items/weight. Pretty strange.

Right now in my cart I have 6 enclosures and a some parts around $90 worth and shipping is $20. Be interested to see what it takes to get to 99 cent shipping

I don't think you can get 99 cent shipping with enclosures.
As small component carts get bigger, shipping decreases. Enclosures seem to always make it increase or stay near the same.
I spent an hour adding random stuff a couple of years ago. It's in the other thread.

I look at it as a handling fee that decreases the more you purchase.

I have several enclosures in my cart :) - I'm tellin ya, there's no rhyme or reason!

If that is the case, may do a parts order and a separate enclosure order. That way I get the parts quickly and pay about the same in shipping!

Just tried it adding caps to a cart I had with enclosures and pots in it, with everything it was the $244 threshold that got 99 cent shipping.

Guess I need to shop some more to "save" some money on shipping!

OK…who has Excel and some time to burn?

(Not that it matters to us Canadians where DHL with prepaid customs fees is almost always the choice)

I think Tayda has some formula that combines order price and then weight against some thresholds. I've seen shipping drop quite low even for enclosures if they're combined with lightweight expensive items. I've also seen the shipping estimate be low, another item get added, and then have it spike back up to $10+, usually around some .1kg increment. Wish they were more open so I could optimize my orders...

@Ginsly I'm a little north of you and I've always went with UPS. They have always been the cheapest and I've yet to have an issue with them. DHL has to run transfers to local deliverers, so there can be hiccups.

If given the choice between UPS and FedEx...

They're similar enough. UPS at the very least has a partially unionized workforce, so they usually get the nod even if they're more expensive than FedEx.

FedEx tends to have the worst track record in my personal experience.

fedex express drivers actually work for Fedex, Fedex ground drivers do not work for fedex and work for random owners like amazon drivers. Amazon drivers are not amazon employees.
