Did Gibson really make these??

Why do these exist

I find the Bolt on Neck is a bit Non Gibson for sure!
But the year listed, Gibson did do some Bolt on Necks????

Poison didn't release any records till 1986, and were unknown in 1984, so there's no way this guitar was "made as a signature model for Bret Michaels of Poison". Typical made-up internet "fact" that's easily disproved with a quick Google search. Which is how I confirmed my suspicion; I'm no expert on hair metal, I just know it wasn't a thing until later in the 80s.

EDIT: Gibson really did make bolt-neck Invaders, though. I have no opinion on the originality of the paint job, it's certainly possible; the world was indeed a different place back then.

It's called freedom of speech.....

Gibson made some absolute clunkers in the 70s and 80s, including several models with bolt-on necks. Made in the USA, but often lower quality than the lawsuit guitars coming out of Asia at the time.

Gibson Sonex and Marauder for example, as well as the Invader.

Marauders are generally fantastic guitars. The bill lawrence pickups are rad, the necks feel great, they look fantastic, and if for whatever reason you want a telecaster custom that says 'gibson' on it. you'd be hard pressed to find a cooler one. That era of Gibson and Fender trying to make each others' instruments yielded some weird and awesome stuff.

The page is there, but if you scroll down it says "listing suspended"

Yep, and then there was Heritage trying to reinvent all the wheels in the first few years of their existence, with widely varying results. My H-204DD is a prime example: Fender scale and string spacing, H-S-S pickup format, six in-line headstock, mahogany set neck w/pre fractured angled headstock, bound body with Florentine cutaway, and so on.

That's got my attention- how about some glamor shots?
