I have no idea who Earl Slick is.
I've never been tempted by any of the GFS guitars because...well frankly most of them look pretty fugly...(to me)....

But man, this one is really tempting me......

Sigh that's the problem, I'd likely wind up putting on a new neck, new pickups, and it'll wind up being over $1000. My silly expectations that I can live with a cheap guitar "as is" is....well....silly....

Earl Slick showed up as a recommended friend on Facebook for me last week. I didn’t send him a friend request though because, just between us, I preferred Belew and Frampton as Bowie’s guitarists

I quite like the look of it though I'd rather build something similar as a partscaster. You'd get much better parts and a nicer neck though will obviously spend a bit(lot) more.

They are far beyond their price point but at the end of the day still likely less than your nice guitars. That said they're perfectly nice instruments. The Slick pickups are excellent and I have a number of them on a few instruments. They do a nice job of the PAF-ish low to mid gain output and on the last guitar I put them on they actually bumped SDuncan JB/59 combo. Better pickups? No. But they really suited the LP-type guitar they were going into.

Nothing against SRV, I just don’t get the hype— he doesn’t excite me. Same way I feel about Rodgers honestly
