Here we are. Why should it be attractive ? Is it about seduction ?

Does a painter, a sculter, a writer needs to do something attractive ?

Are we selling shoes to teenagers here ? Are we selling some car to some rich idiot ?

Or are we expressing ourselves ? Why would i want want to seduce anyone ? Why would i want my stompbox to be attractive ?

I'd rather give it a soul.

Everything is about knowledge, including white washers, sex, money, seduction and led's plastic mounting clips. Knowledge is about learning to recognize and tell apart the causes and the consequencies. Quite simple at first glance, but some causes are so distant from us that it gets near impossible to grasp them.

Isn't it obvious that we can devote ourselves to other things than sex and money ? Depends only on your social environment. Your statement is just a mere perception, oversimplified with mere words. Words are signs, nothing less, nothing more. You can't expect the world to fit in there...besides plastic washers of course.

We might all feel like our reality is the only one, but sociology taught us long ago that it's entirely built by our social bonds, our affects and the spring tension in our 3PDT.
Free will works on individual scale, once we look at the big picture, at all the statistics, free will suddenly doesn't look neither real nor free.

In nations based on protestant values, Max Weber has shown that there has been a big change about the relationship with money. It happened a bit less than 500 years ago.
At first it had some sense : The Church was too powerful, they took all the resources, all the land, all the gold. The rest of the society was slowed down.
It had to change, but with time, it went a bit too far. The new interpretations of the bible led to unseen and unpredictable consequencies.
In simple words, if you have money it means that God loves you, no need to worry about your seat in heaven. And now capitalism can thrive. You can forget about "the first will be the last" and all that...

Now you can leave people behind because they don't have enough money to live. God doesn't love them, there must be a reason, so why would you help ? Isn't it the rule in the U.S ? Seduce, pay or die the hard way ?
Not sure that's what Calvin, Luther and their friends had in mind...

I guess that's why you think the way you think, same goes for me in my nation based on catholic values, which also has its own set of ugly consequencies.

Your bond with chrome bezels is a consequence. You need to identify all the causes. This bond has already also become itself a cause with various unfortunate consequencies, just like this 1590A build.

I'm afraid that this observation is both biased and slightly off the target.

For many pedal builders, some webshop does the part's selection. That's what happens when you order a full kit.

Every 3PDT i ever ordered from musikding came with a plastic washer.

You are free to question Klaus's parts choices, but i never had any issues with the quality of his components. He has all my trust, and never let me down, not once in many years... me and hundreds of other diy pedal builders.
Musikding does an impressive work, they are selling 3PDT with white washers, and these are their standard footswitches for all the stompbox kits.

Now let's have a first exemple of an amazing build with a plastic washer on the outside. In order to enjoy this moment, i decided to start with something not too overhelming, to spare the sceptics and the rebels : Robot_2021-02-25_01.jpg

P_wats is among the most talented artwork designer i've ever seen on this forum.

This isn't a pre-designed artwork from Tayda, or some sticker hastily made on a computer, this is real art. Probably several hours of work.

Have a look at his other builds. Unfortunately, we can't see this kind of artworks everyday in the build report section.

It's hard to put my finger on it, but somehow it would feel a bit strange without the plastic ring. As a matter of fact, p_wats decided to put it on the outside and, in my humble opinion, we should all respect his artistic choice.

I'm checking myself: I use LMS a lot--their basic switch comes with white washer and I think they're great.

That said, I usually replace the washer-unless the pedal is white or has white knobs, in which case the washer looks ok to me.
 
Looks like Spi's avatar (a Tube Screamer ?) has a white washer. That's a remarkable commitment to the cause.

Glad you picked the winning side. Today the sceptics have lost a lot of ground. Your reply #183 is very enlightening, the truth will prevail.

Hey! Thanks so much for the kind words. Reminds me to finish some builds I've got on the go.

To be honest, my older builds mostly all used the white washers, simply because I had a huge stash of 3PDT switches that came with them. Eventually even places like Tayda have started providing switches with smaller metal washers, so I use those now as a means of letting the paint jobs speak for themselves a bit more. I still have tons of pedals with the white washers installed though!

Whatever you've got on hand is best in my world. Ha
