Jlcpcb and tariffs

I did the Global Direct Saver on a smaller order a few weeks ago, expecting to get hit with duty fees when it landed. It came in the 2 weeks or so it always has and I haven't gotten a bill for anything yet!

I’m pretty sure long boat is exempt but not always an option depending on weight.

2 weeks is pretty fast to me, but I never ever use FedEx or third parties because then I am guaranteed to get hit with brokerage, customs and all that garbage. 😂

I use it frequently for prototypes or personal projects but 2 weeks is untenable fpr a production batch.

I ordered some JLC boards via slow shipping and they arrived a few days back without any kind of tariff payment request.
I looked on the checkout options. Tariffs appear on other shipping options but not on the slow boat option.

Has anyone received a shipment to the US via the Global Direct Saver line shipping option yet? I placed one order DDP via DHL and then placed a one board order that I won't be too upset about not getting via the Global Direct Saver if customs via USPS are a shit show.
So the order I was talking about here is out for delivery via a last mile courier called GOFO Express. Haven't heard hear anything about tariffs yet and will update when/if I do. Cursory glance seems like it's a typically reviewed last mile courier and is getting use recently for Temu and Shein orders to the USA. Haven't seen any mention of tariffs due on delivery in reddit posts about them so fingers crossed.

Just got home where it was waiting. No duties due, delivered without issue just like it was from any other last mile carrier shipped from anywhere else.

Same here, got my global direct shipped in the usual time, no additional fees. Although, for me at least, that shipping option has doubled in price, soaring from around $1.50ish to a whopping $3ish ;) for the minimum weight. My guess is global direct means your package gets stuffed in a shipping container with everybody's temu-baba-shein lafufus and a value is placed on the whole container which gets tariffed. The shipper eats the fees and rather than going through the ordeal of charging each of us the proper amount, they raise prices across the board.
I'm sure they're not making as much money as before tariffs because their prices are still impossibly low, but they'd probably lose customers like us if they charged an amount that would actually keep them in the black. More speculation, but that shipping industry is likely subsidized by Chinese manufacturers or even the gov't to keep demand steady so factories can keep humming along making cheap stuff for us to buy. I'm not complaining! Keep giving me my 5 boards for $5 shipped!

What i noticed with Global Direct shipping on my last order is that it was only if the order total is under $60. Anything over, and I wasn't able to use that and had to go DHL or Fedex (lot more to ship + tarriff). So if there are only a few boards or projects on there, I think we should be good (for now)

Weird, I haven’t had any issues with it. I sure don’t order more than $30 at a time.
