MDMA Overdrive passing signal but very muffled

Hello all, I recently put together a MDMA(wampler euphoria / exctasy) pcb. When engaged the pedal passes sound but it is very muffled and none of the controls seem to do anything, except the volume. I went over the solder joints and they seem to look ok and all my connections on the footswitch,dc jack, input/output jacks seem to look ok too. I was wondering what the problem could be and what I should test to try to pinpoint this specific problem. Thanks
