Absolutely.

This is all tongue in cheek for me. I wasn't expecting a genuine Dumble product to begin with, so the fact that there actually was something interesting in there is pretty cool.

I do think these kits would be a little more interesting if they included a schematic and at least a minimal circuit explanation.


I'll try to measure those remaining cap values today.

IMO these kits are a direct reflection of JHS being scared of the masses learning they can all just build these things. Of course there are no schematics.

Yep, it measured 100pF in mine.

He was already a marketing genius before this, in my opinion. He proved it with the Tacobolt.

That's the thing. He always knows how to spin things

But I also think this was an honest mistake. Josh built up a lot of goodwill with his channel, including that candid video about the profits of selling pedals, so coming clean like that can only be a positive for him. It's definitely making everybody talk about JHS. The old no such thing as bad publicity chestnut, essentially.

His short circuit series is another example of literally giving his profits away - it's what got me into building pedals.

I believe he saw this as a way of coming clean about the mixed up circuit as well as clearing out his remaining inventory quickly and setting up demand for a V2. That's why to me it doesn't read as altruistic as he's trying to seem.

But idk why I care. I normally don't hate on Josh. This one is just a bit contrived

About done with the Dumbler mod, added separate jacks, just need to drill their holes. Everything went smooth except the damn led for some reason took some effort to remove, I gave up and cut it to make it easier.
