What instrument do you wish you could play?

If you could wake up tomorrow and be proficient on an instrument you don't already play, what instrument would that be?

Deifnitely violin. I worked at a music store in college and had a deal with one of the violin teachers where I would give her guitar lessons in exchange for violin lessons. She came out much better at the guitar than I did at the violin.

I still have a nice violin and I look at it every now and then, it's just the first instrument that hasn't come naturally to me so obviously I gave up pretty easily.

Sitar and accordeon. For casual noodling at home.

And upright bass (thinking of its use in a folk punk or gothabilly band context here).

Practically speaking, honestly it's probably just the piano. I can kludge my way through playing the very most rudimentary stuff, but little beyond that. It's frustrating because it's an instrument that I can "hear" or "understand" parts just fine. I get the idea well enough to be able to think through or describe what part might suit a given song...but cannot actually come remotely close to playing it myself :ROFLMAO:

Just for fun... I tried to take up bagpipes when I was 10 but it wasn't offered as a part of the school music program. So I reluctantly went with the cello. But it would have been neat...
