Wow. Building your own from scratch.

This is incredible! I particularly was fascinated when he was doing the neck and frets. Something i took away from the video is i need more tools
Woodworking in general is a huge rabbit hole of tool purchases…. And now that wood is so ridiculously priced you have to be more crazy than pedal addicts to jump in. I love that this dude makes such amazing guitars and doesn’t sell anything. This is just his hobby.

Whoa! Dude must have had some nice shelves!!! My current level of woodworking is cabinets made with biscuits. No, not the kind Grandma baked. A biscuit joiner is about the simplest, fastest way to make a strong joint without generating plumes of sawdust. I've done Dados with a tablesaw and Mortise and Tenon Joints with a router and it's a *tremendous* amount of cleanup afterwards.

Expensive wood:
One of the laws of supply and demand is that if you price something too high, people won't buy it. In order to help the price of wood come down to realistic levels, people need to say NO to the price. During the pandemic a 4'x8' sheet of 3/8 plywood was {gasp} $55 at Lowes. Needless to say usage dropped to zero-ish. A couple months ago this was around $25ish. I check from time to time to see if insanity has been replaced with wisdom. Looks like wisdom won, this was about the pre-pandemic price..... btw, I am personally boycotting steak for the same reason. Hamburgers are good, and fairly reasonably priced.

I have a couple of sources to buy slabs of rough cut hardwoods where I can mill them down to size with a bandsaw, planer, and jointer. But, ya, it’s a lot of money upfront for good, heavy duty, reliable, and SAFE tools. I’ve been spreading them out over the years as I do the buy-once cry-once purchases.

Haven’t bought any significant wood since 2019. So I guess I’m boycotting too.
