Jlcpcb and tariffs

At one point JLCPCB was overcharging tariffs due to the constant and rapid fluctuations.

I suspect they aren't going to jump out there and immediately adjust the rates based on this news.

Due to the fluctuating customs duty rate (145%~175%), we will collect taxes from customers in advance based on the highest rate of 175%. After receiving the tax bill from the logistics provider, any excess will be refunded, and any shortfall will be charged accordingly. I read in the news today that CBP opened up the customer portal to get in and apply for tariff refunds, so naturally I was excited because just from JLC I paid a total of about $4700 in IEEPA tariffs. The portal is open to direct importers, not consumers at large, so you have to be the one that actually imported it to be eligible for the refund. I figured I would be good there, but because JLC exclusively shipped DDP, JLCPCB was the importer of record for the transactions, so they're eligible for the refunds, not me.

$4700 is enough that I reached out to JLC to see what their plans are for this, but I'm not optimistic about it.

Hi, I'm about to place an order, and I was wondering if it would be a bad idea to use the Global Standard Direct Line, since you have to pay the tariffs at the post office now, I think. Has anyone had issues with the post office charging more than the amount for going with DHL or FedEx? I've used Global Standard Direct Line pre-tariff and post-tariff a year ago, when they charged me at checkout with no issues. I just wondered if anyone's had any issues with it or not. Thanks!

I got a refund from DHL last week.

I never inquired nor asked for one, and they didn't specify what it was far, but there's not much else it could have been...

It wasn't even remotely what I've paid in tariffs since the beginning of all of this, but maybe it's the portion they considered to be "unlawful"?

(It was around $900, so I'm certainly thankful, but also somewhat puzzled)

I just got an order today, you don’t have to pay anything additionally.

For small like 5 board orders if you get the shipping discount (which seems like you can get quite often) it seems about the same as pre tariff. It does impact it once you’re ordering more than ten though a fair amount. But still nothing like the dhl charges. I screwed up on a rotary switch (not reversing it) on some I got the other day. I was annoyed enough to almost do the fast shipping for the fixed board. But not quite 😂

Yeah I’ve just been ordering 5 boards at a time through global standard. No issues and no more fees upon arrival. Comes out to 1$ a board? They only lost one of my packages a year ago
