New JHS Pedal Announcement

And here I was thinking this MkGee guy was from Spoon.... I've lost the plot somewhere, I have no idea what we're talking about anymore.

There was a pedal in here somewhere, right? :ROFLMAO:

The same people that like KehnnehGeeze-this-is-pap-not-even-muzak. I've yet to find anyone that will admit to liking him, and yet he continues to sell enough of that crap to continue making it... 🤮

I don't hate Kenny G but it's not something I could see myself purposely listening to...

I've got a few consoles that do the same thing. So do some of his other pedals. It can be a cool sound in context, but it's nothing special. Just a direct thing everyone has been doing forever. Hell, I just plugged into my crappy hifi I made and it sounds pretty similar.

Funny I remember a drugged-out frusciante putting out solo records with similar tones, because he was broke and out of his mind. Lots of muzak tones with these kids these days.

Now if there was a diy layout or kit for a mic preamp that was truly special I might look into it. But this is bland. The grey color sums it up.

Pedal is underwhelming for the price, but why the hate for opamp balanced/DI output?
Cheap transformer DI < well-designed opamp DI < quality transformer DI

My personal opinion based on my personal experience, but also jives with the players I talk to/build for. Maybe I've just used too many transformer DI's and gotten used to them, but frequency response, coloration, "feel", I've just never played an opamp-based DI that sounded or felt as good. Also kind of goes without saying that I need a DI option that will handle a tube preamp output, and even running ±15V an opamp will clip eventually. The saturation point of a transformer is much more palatable.

I picked up a preamp a little while ago with a "transformerless tube DI" where he basically used a phase inverter to generate the balanced output, and it's not bad, but the impedance isn't what it should be for a DI output.

I used to think Kenny G was awful. Until I heard him do a feature with one of my favorite avant-garde metal bands. Seems like he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

Although I thought it was really messed up when he released a recording of him overdubbing on “What a wonderful world”.

I used to think Kenny G was awful.

My dad listened to a range of arguably bad music... In one afternoon we'd go from country to Celine Dion, Kenny G, George Thorogood, then always end up on Van Halen.

I think it's more of a joke to me now than anything, but I'll sit and listen to Kenny G if it happens to come on. It's the type of thing that sits in the background and doesn't snatch my attention away from whatever I'm doing.

You know I still haven't listened to a single demo of this pedal nor Mk Gee....

We also did a cameo with Weezer doing a solo during a live session:

You are right, doesn't take himself too serious. Still not a fan of the music, but have some more respect for him.

This was what triggered the ire of hard core jazz fans and caused Metheny to speak out publicly. There's an even longer form rant by Metheny somewhere on Youtube. But for jazz lovers, Louis Armstrong is the father of American jazz. For someone like Kenny G, who's watered down bad "Karen" pop on a soprano to overdub and "fake" a duet with Armstrong was more than just sacrilegious....it was downright blasphemous heh.

It wasnt super out of left field, his son was the drummer or guitarist at that time I think. It’s funny either way though.
