Hard to say if the waves are intentional in some circumstances, but I can definitely agree that it happens—intended or not. I'm in murky waters, but I think high profile demos and myth/mojo debunks are two sides of the same coin. As much as I respect amazing players who demo (I have one specific one in mind here…), I can't stand some of the claims they make, when it's demonstrably disproved by more technically knowledgeable folks— i.e. when certain parts in a circuit matter (contribute or outright dictate tonal qualities) or not. The vast majority of $famousPlayerName audience on YouTube is unlikely to go read an ElectroSmash article and learn that the mojo [can be] bupkis.
The Bad Monkey video…kinda occupies a superposition, in my mind. Josh seems to sit in that deadpan zone where it's hard to divine a definite intent. I'm not ashamed to admit some of his April Fools shenanigans had me going for longer than they should have Again, not saying he's aloof to the implications, but I couldn't tell you if he had the intention.
Hope he's paying his marketing team well; they deserve it. I worked in that sphere for almost a decade, and when you get good team with good ideas and a client open to them, it's magical. Glad I got out of that market, though. Easy to get burned out.
Josh Scott sees himself as an innovator. I imagine he often daydreams about throwing a big javelin through a giant 1980’s computer screen with Mike Fuller’s face on it. Thing is, his innovation is taking what is essentially an industry that creates tools for artists, and turning it to an industry that creates consumers of FOMO Media…
He calls it a "true piece of history." Is it really, though? In the way that everything is a true piece of history perhaps. I'll give it this, the first notaklon has more historical significance than the shit I took this morning.
We hope this message finds you well. We want to share some updates with you about the timeline and delivery expectations of the new NOTAKLÖN pedal.
As our website indicated last week, the initial 3000 units very quickly sold out on release day 11/15. All subsequent orders are on a Pre-Order status, meaning they are not immediately available to ship, and based on our current supply chain, here's what you can expect in terms of delivery:
For orders numbered between 1001-3800 (approximately), you are among the first 3000 and can anticipate receiving your order within 1-2 weeks, possibly sooner. We're thrilled to note that many of these orders have already been fulfilled!
For orders numbered between 3800-6800 (approximately), your order is on Pre-Order status and is expected to ship in mid-to-late December, potentially extending into early January. Though we understand some of these were purchased as gifts, please note that we cannot guarantee that orders beyond #3800 will arrive before December 25th.
For orders numbered between 6800-11000 (approximately), your order is on Pre-Order status and is slated to ship by mid-January, possibly extending into early February.

Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for our products. This is by far our most successful release ever and we had no idea that your response would be so outstanding! All of us here at JHS are extremely grateful for your support of what we do and we are working as diligently as possible to produce these in the most timely manner that we can. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team.
3k units sold out in the first day— less than 12 hours. Preorders have been open for 7 days since, with hype only building since the initial release as more people have watched the video outside of the initial livestream time period, plus gear influencers, memes, Instagram/Reddit/Facebook gear ogling…
20k definitely seems possible, though I would have thought more like 12-15k orders at this point.
even at 12k orders, that’s over a million dollars in sales in only a week. 2 million if we go by your 20k intel. Not too shabby for what it is.
That could be an entire hands-off business model. Sell these kits that are premade, require no assembly from JHS aside from packaging, and profit. Should they do it for all their cheaper priced models? They’ve got a good thing that’s for sure.
