PSA- Tayda 2.1mm DC Jacks (Never mind, I just screwed up)

Just a heads up. I've had two builds now where I get everything boxed up and the the 9V power barrel doesn't fit into the jack! I just went through my stash and found 5 jacks out of ~15 that are too small to accept my DC adaptors and 1 that was way too big. I'm checking them before instal from now on.

The jacks I'm talking about are the innie 2.1mm power jacks (SKU A-2237). I checked all my outies and they are fine.

Huh. Never really had any problems with those. Then again, I've mostly been using the smaller ones lately, which have been super consistent in size. Just ordered some outies though. Getting tired of having to wire up a power cable with a built-in socket.

That's what I ordered a bunch of when I first started building, not realizing their predrilled 125b enclosures were drilled for the smaller jacks so I had to drill them out. I like the aesthetics of the little ones better I think, but the power supply cable doesn't fit into them as deeply as the bigger jacks.

Yeah, that's it ! I never even noticed there were two different sizes. I've been using these since 2017 without issue, so, this makes the most sense.

That wouldn’t account for the jack being too small though? Unless the center pin was blocking the power plug.

My interpretation is that the 2.5mm is the diameter of the center pin in the jack, 2.1mm is standard, so, the barrel is too small to fit over it.
