All the parts for my Matamp GT120 clone have arrived except for the transformers
I ordered the transformers from Mercury Magnetics but I donāt have an eta yet
The British style voltage selector and impedance selector should be gilded for how much they cost. There were really no other options that would fit the holes (basically octal socket cutouts). They do look and feel well made though. I have Bulgin fuse holders for the external fuse holders but the holes need to be enlarged slightly.
The PCB is placeholder. Iām making my own turret board layout. Iāll likely have the board extend towards the front panel to the edge of the preamp tube sockets, and then farther to left OT side of the chassis.
F&T for the can caps. For the the other electros I went with my favorite electro brand Nichicons. Rated for 10000+ hours at 105c! Mallory 150s for the films. I couldnāt find name brand silver micas in the values I needed (especially for the FAC), so I ordered 1% 630V Polystyrene Tubular caps instead (from Just Radios). Totally tubular!
The Keystone turrets I found on close out at Newark for .23 each. Still expensive but the max quantity discount at Mouser is .38 each for 2500
The turrets on the left are from AliExpress that come out to around .09 each for 200. Initial impressions are good, but I donāt know if they are Keystone quality. I picked up some eyelets and through hole contact pins (for bias test points) too.
The last thing major thing I have to solve is the face plate. I picked up some 1/16ā ABS sheet. Iām going to try to wash it with acetone, then film free decals, and finally a resin coat. Iām going to do a test badge for a different amp tonight. If it doesnāt work maybe Iāll pick up a vinyl cutter?ā¦
I hope when I receive the transformers Iāll have my current project done and I can move to the workbench thread
