All the parts for my Matamp GT120 clone have arrived except for the transformers 🄳 I ordered the transformers from Mercury Magnetics but I don’t have an eta yet 🄹

The British style voltage selector and impedance selector should be gilded for how much they cost. There were really no other options that would fit the holes (basically octal socket cutouts). They do look and feel well made though. I have Bulgin fuse holders for the external fuse holders but the holes need to be enlarged slightly.

The PCB is placeholder. I’m making my own turret board layout. I’ll likely have the board extend towards the front panel to the edge of the preamp tube sockets, and then farther to left OT side of the chassis.

F&T for the can caps. For the the other electros I went with my favorite electro brand Nichicons. Rated for 10000+ hours at 105c! Mallory 150s for the films. I couldn’t find name brand silver micas in the values I needed (especially for the FAC), so I ordered 1% 630V Polystyrene Tubular caps instead (from Just Radios). Totally tubular!

The Keystone turrets I found on close out at Newark for .23 each. Still expensive but the max quantity discount at Mouser is .38 each for 2500 🤯 The turrets on the left are from AliExpress that come out to around .09 each for 200. Initial impressions are good, but I don’t know if they are Keystone quality. I picked up some eyelets and through hole contact pins (for bias test points) too.

The last thing major thing I have to solve is the face plate. I picked up some 1/16ā€ ABS sheet. I’m going to try to wash it with acetone, then film free decals, and finally a resin coat. I’m going to do a test badge for a different amp tonight. If it doesn’t work maybe I’ll pick up a vinyl cutter?…

I hope when I receive the transformers I’ll have my current project done and I can move to the workbench thread :)

Todays marketplace find! Im pretty excited, this one is for sure a keeper for me. But ive got some work to do on it for sure. Transformer codes date it as a 69 (im assuming the writing inside means 23rd week of 69, which checks out as the transformers are all like week 12. Not sure what that white stuff is at the caps. Whenever ive seen these mallories leak they just have some brown crud coming out. And oh boy that power cord. šŸ™„

Oh and its got all the original rca stopsign tubes. We’ll see how many of those are still good.

How much did you pay for it? It doesn’t look like the white stuff came out of the caps, more like it was poured on? Weird regardless.

650, it had a really horribly built homemade 2x12 that someone took the original utahs and put in jt as well.

I hadnt notice before but in the dog house there was like a slime in the metal. And the one resistor had it on it. Weird. Wonder if it was conductive. Briefly powered it on to test and sounded like it had a bad power tube, but now im wondering if it just wasnt getting powered right. By any means everything in thr dog house will have to be replaced.

EffectsLayouts order arrived, Illithid, Grumble Skuzz, Sasquatch II, Lilliput, Tonsorium, Duo Vibe, Black Biter and some SO8 converters (I think I intended them for some LM308AD's I have). And a Sunnbeam as a freebie I guess? That brings the doom metal adjacent amp sim pedal count to 4 built and 2 PCB's - this one also doesn't quite overlap with the others because AFAIK it's quite different from the original Model T.

Man that thing is untouched!.. That is definitely electrolyte leakage... probably let the juice go while it was hot and ran down to that area and then formed the crusties... Awesome score
