Why does nobody plan any more?

Remember when we used to plan what we were gong to do? We'd plan a project, or plan a trip, or book a table or book a ticket? Now everything has to be pre-planned or pre-booked. What does pre-plan even mean? Is it the planning you do before you plan something? Or do you pre-book to book a ticket?

I just read on the BBC about a locked up convict who apparently pre-planned his escape. Didn't he actually just (boringly) plan it? Why is everything pre-planned or pre-booked these days?

Well that is pre-planning. But once you make those plans they're plans, not pre-plans. Does an architect layout the drawings for your house and say "Here are the pre-plans for your new home"?

I'm a software product/program manager. All I do is plan, plan, and plan.

Jira, Confluence, Dragon, Smartsheets, you name it.

“pre” plan when you want to make a plan but you are to lazy to lay it out on paper and just run with a half baked idea…. I’m the master of this concept. “ I’ll figure it out on the fly.” Because I have no attention span. There is my two cents not adjusted for inflation.

Feel like the addition of pre to plan originated in sensationalized crime tv/news related stuff as way to just say “very planned”

metacriticism: my own use of the word feel in this post as a way to mean “think, but don’t quote me on it” and not an actual feeling

"Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

I avoid the mouth punch by pre-planning, then skipping over the planning phase. Right to the activity!
